05/08/2006: "Orange Glow hardwood floor cleaning kit"

There is a hardwood floor cleaning kit out in the grocery stores now called Orange Glow, the kit contains mops and liquid products (1 being a cleaner and the other being what they are calling a refinisher) please take my advise and do not use the so called refinisher portion of this kit, It is a water based floor finish and should only be applied with the proper knowledge and equipment, also if you apply this over an oil based finish and later on call a flooring company in to recoat the floor they will only be able to use water based finish to recoat with, unless you completely refinish the floor and remove the water based finish, also if you apply any type of finish, without properly screening or chemically scuff the floor first you may not get a proper adhesion to the old finish, resulting in the finish peeling off, as far as the cleaner goes I do not at this time have any comments to add, I recommend a cleaner product called bona hardwood floor cleaner, as far the refinisher goes I did a 4x4 test area in my home and found that it did noting more than put a nice shine over the top of my scratches & dents & only lasted about 4 to 5 weeks before needing to be redone, but if you decide to use this product any way just remember a $10 recoat is a $10 recoat & not much more!
